At 10:08 on June 12, at the construction site outside Dongtai Station of Yancheng-Nantong Railway, a set of 500 m long rail was pulled by a track-laying machine onto the ballastless track bed, marking the transition of Yancheng-Nantong Railway from off-site construction to onsite construction.

Yancheng-Nantong Railway connects Yancheng and Nantong, two coastal cities in Jiangsu, with a design speed of 350 km/h.

Yancheng-Nantong Railway is an important component in China's HSR network of "eight north-south corridors and eight east-west corridors", and is an important transport infrastructure supporting the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Upon completion, it will be interconnected with Xuzhou–Yancheng Railway, Nantong-Shanghai Railway and other railways, forming a convenient transportation corridor linking North China, Northwest China and Yangtze River Delta region. It plays an important role in improving the overall transportation capacity of coastal railway corridors, enhancing the radiation efficiency of regional railway networks, and promoting the integrated development of Yangtze River Delta region.
