New Railways Help Passenger Traffic Recovery in Yangtze River Delta

  Since the beginning of this summer passenger transport, China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. registered a daily passenger traffic of 1.394 million. The two railways newly open to traffic, namely, Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section), handled 85,000 trips per day. By closely tracking the passenger trends, China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. has adjusted its transport capacity in time and operated the trains in a customized manner.

  The two railways newly open to traffic have strengthened the accessibility and coverage of the HSR network in the Yangtze River Delta, providing passengers with a more convenient travel experience. Insisting on operating trains with precise targets, China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. has majorly enhanced the weekend transport capacity and supplemented the daily transportation capacity when appropriate, thus promoting the passenger traffic growth. Based on the peak operation diagram for HSRs and PDLs in the summer passenger rush, it has given full play to the strong capacity of Beijing-Shanghai HSR, Shanghai-Kunming HSR and Shanghai-Nanjing HSR, and actively exerted the new railways such as Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section). It also operated coupled-running and large-formation EMU trains as far as possible to expand the proportion of EMU trains. In addition to 27 pairs of direct peak trains in the diagram, it has added 4 pairs of direct passenger trains, resumed operation of the 2 pairs of trains suspended in the off-season, and also added direct peak trains in time according to the passenger traffic growth.
